Magic for the life you are actually living

The Practicum is where we put the old tools to work.

I’ve spent more than forty years practicing magic, reading tarot, studying ritual, symbolism, psychology, philosophy, and the many ways people have tried to understand the things we can’t quite explain.

I believe in mystery.

I also believe in keeping your feet on the ground.

Those two things have never seemed particularly incompatible to me.

You can trust your intuition and still question your first interpretation. You can perform a ritual and then take practical action. You can notice the strange coincidence without immediately deciding the universe rearranged itself specifically for you.

You can leave room for magic without handing it the steering wheel.

That’s the territory I want to explore in The Practicum.

Tarot. Ritual. Folk practices. Old magical tools. Psychology. Philosophy. The occasional bit of science when it helps us understand what we’re experiencing.

Not to explain the mystery away.

And not to believe everything simply because we want it to be true.

The point is to practice. Pay attention. Stay curious. Use what helps. Question what doesn’t. And allow ourselves to say I don’t know when we don’t know.

There’s plenty of room between blind belief and believing in nothing.

That’s where I do most of my work.
